Mayor of Aurora, Richard C. Irvin, shares some of Aurora’s latest development plans, Tuesday at the Kiwanis Club of Aurora meeting at the Prisco Center. He said two grand openings will be Saturday, June 1: The Venue, a live music community center and the Aurora Arts Center, a school for performing arts, which will soon house an upscale restaurant operated by Amy Morton, family member of the well-known Morton’s The Steakhouse chain.

Other restaurants in the future will include Latin fusion food served from the first floor of the Leland Tower and Asian fusion sushi and Robatayaki style cuisine in the structure known as the Vargas Building which recently housed Culture Stock.

Mayor Irvin said the upper floor of the Terminal building in downtown Aurora hasn’t been used for 60 years is being developed. He said developers are planning to restore the Hobbs building in the downtown and the building at 80 S. River Street.

Irvin said he’s excited to be mayor and part of the community during the growth.
