Valley of the Fox Sierra Club invites everyone to its program at 7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 4 at Hawthorne Nature Center, 28 Brookside Drive in Elgin. The speaker will be Vern LaVia, author of the book, Make Earth Great Again. He is an avid bird-watcher and has gone bird-watching to six continents, 49 countries, and all 50 states.
Birds are the ultimate indicator of any ecosystem. In just the past 50 years there has been a 60% decline in all animal and plant life, bio diversity. He will share with us how the change happened and what we as individuals can do to help.
Directions to Hawthorne: From Randall Road take first road north of Highway U.S. 20, which is Frontage Road, in Elgin, then go east. The first road to the left is Brookside, HHND is the first drive on the left.
