It’s a boy!

When an Aurora family asked Community Oriented Policing Sgt. Scott Carter to reveal the gender of their baby, Sgt. Carter was all in! He said, “It was so exciting to see the anticipation building up as I drove down the street. Everyone was gathered in front of the house and had their phones out ready to record.”

And as Sgt. Carter approached, he stopped a short distance away and used the PA system to lay out the ground rules. If the red lights flash, it’s a girl. If the blue lights flash, it’s a boy.

Moments later, Sgt. Carter turned on the blue lights, popped some blue smoke in the air and the crowd began to cheer! It’s a boy!

The family was overjoyed a baby boy was on the way and they were very appreciative the police department agreed to participate.

Community Oriented Policing Lt. Mike Corrigan said, “Building relationships and building trust in the community is our focus every day.”
