The Jason Mckie Foundation, in conjunction with Allstate Insurance Military and Veteran Programs, Illinois representative Linda Chapa LaVia, and the Muller Automotive Group, will give a 2017 Dodge Grand Caravan to a former Marine and single mom of four, Alyssa Tatar.
Tatar, who has been without her own reliable transportation, for approximately four months, following an accident, was set to receive her Grand Caravan at 11 a.m. Wednesday Sept. 5 at Bricks Wood Fired Pizza, 1763 Freedom Drive, Naperville. Her situation was revealed publicly in a newspaper.

This mission did not come without challenges, but the end result and goal was to secure a safe vehicle for Tatar and her children. “The vehicle went through inspection and other than normal maintenance it’s in great shape. We replaced all the filters, wiper blades, did an oil change and detailed the minivan,” said Glenn Muller of Muller Auto Group.

Roosevelt-Aurora American Legion Post 84 helped facilitate the collection of some funds. “I was speechless to realize after four moths she was still without a vehicle,” Post 84 commander Mike Eckburg said.

Chapa LaVia said, “As an Army veteran and the chairman of the Veteran’s Affairs Committee in The Illinois House of Representatives, nothing makes me more humbled then when community comes together for one of our own who has worn the fabrics of this great Nation.”
