Neuroscientist Karrie Fitzpatrick, left, receives East Aurora High School Distinguished Alumni Award from Julia Inostroza, president, East Aurora Alumni Association, Friday, at the honor at East Aurora. Karrie Fitzpatrick was graduated from East Aurora in 1998. Dr. Fitzpatrick at the University of Illinois majored in psychology with a focus on neurobiology. She earned a Ph.D in neuroscience from Northwestern University. In March 2015 she took a position in biological research with the U.S. Department of Defense.
