Those attending can explore the history of Aurora and the Burlington Railroad with an Aurora Historical Society exhibit, “Celebrating 175 Years, 1849-2024,” through August 17 at the Pierce Art and History Center, 20 E. Downer Place in Aurora.
The public is invited. Admission is free.
Artifacts include photos, a handcar, various sets of keys, signage, a bell from Chicago, Burlington & Quincy Railroad steam engine No. 4956 and two pieces from locomotives in the 1964 train wreck in Montgomery.
The exhibit opened March 1, and will run through Saturday, Aug. 17.
Exhibit hours are Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays, noon to 4. p.m.; and Saturdays. 10 a.m. to 4 p. m..
