Since 1990, Joseph Corporation in Aurora, with the help of many donors and grants, has been working to address affordable housing needs in Aurora through programs dedicated to home ownership, financial planning, and creating safe communities.
Executive director Dennis (“Denny”) Wiggins has retired from Joseph Corporation. A merger is the process of two housing/home-ownership organizations, Emmanuel House and Joseph Corporation. They fully will combine following 10 years of the two organizations working closely together for nearly 10 years. Rick Guzman is the founder and leader of the Emmanuel House. He will become the leader of the merged organization. The new name of the organization is The Neighbor Project.
They have focused primarily on increasing home-ownership, not only for what it does for the families, but for the entire community.
“Many of you have heard me say that contrary to what some believe,” Guzman said at the Paramount Theatre in Aurora Tuesday, “that Aurora overall does not have a disproportionate number of people living below the poverty line.”
