Aurora soon will have a new, welcoming mural along Galena Boulevard just west of Lake Street. Artist and muralist Josh Schultz was given the green light by both Aurora’s City Council and Aurora Downtown’s Board of Directors to begin work on a mural that has been in the works since Fall 2019 in the back of Tortas Guadalajara at 5 S. Lake Street.
Aurora Downtown recently paused the contracted project to hear concerns from community members, and since has agreed to implement new practices going forward that will focus on equity and transparency with public art projects.
As the mural sponsor, Aurora Downtown: “The ‘Aurora’ mural will provide a large and colorful welcome sign, and is a step to achieving one of the group’s goals of improving and beautifying downtown gateways.
