The Kane County Health Department (KCHD), along with partners from the Kane County Office of Emergency Management and the Kane County Sheriff’s Office were hosts to a mass-PPE (personal protective equipment) distribution event Friday, Jan. 28 at the Kane County facilities in St. Charles.

In just over six hours, equipment was distributed to 45 facilities, including long-term care centers, homeless shelters, school districts, private schools, dental offices, rehab centers and behavioral health centers. KCHD distributed thousands of individual PPE items including face masks, face shields, and hand sanitizer.

“By distributing large quantities of PPE at the local level to prioritized organizations, we’re ultimately increasing the speed and efficiency of the supply chain process and getting critical protection into the hands of staff and vulnerable individuals who need it most,” said emergency response supervisor and public health preparedness program manager Aaron Stevens. “Throughout the pandemic, our County has excelled at quickly and efficiently distributing enormous amounts of critical materials and life-saving vaccines.”
