Poem: Learning To Live

As long as there’s been language, to speak and be understood,
There have been philosophic words meant for the common good.
So here I am, advising you, assuming you can read;
Assuming that the subject matter has a common need.
Of course, it is quite proper that I ascertain that first,
And, once again, I must assume you have a common thirst–
A thirst which will metabolize into a need to learn;
Which then brings out abilities to determine and discern.
To me, desire to learn brings out the best that you can be;
But in assuming you will learn there is no guarantee.
The end result to all of this is strictly up to you;
Values of learning and discernment helps in all you do.
