Lieutenant Commander (LCDR) Ryan Hall, USN (United States Navy), a student at the Booth School of Business, University of Chicago, addressed the Aurora Council Navy League. His topic covered the complex organization and intense training of the U.S. Navy’s various expeditionary commands. Units of these expeditionary commands are assigned to the various geographic CombatantCommands covering the world, such as Indo-Pacom Command and Central Command, which report directly to the Secretary of Defense.

Navy SEAL and Lieutenant Commander Ryan Hall, right, accepts an appreciation certificate Tuesday, July 20, from Len Wass of Oswego, Aurora Navy League Council 247 program chairman. Hall was the keynote speaker at the Navy League’s July dinner meeting at Riverview Diner in Montgomery. In “Navy Special Warfare,” an unclassified PowerPoint slide presentation, Hall discussed SEAL’s expeditionary and special warfare capabilities and his deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan conflict zones and security cooperation areas. Hall said the SEAL’s 2,700 active members are the U.S. Navy’s main special operations force, part of Naval Special Warfare Command and are the maritime component of the U.S. Special Operations Command. A 14-year Navy veteran, Hall is enrolled in a Navy-sponsored MBA program at University of Chicago. See the adjacent information. Al Benson/The Voice

LCDR Hall was selected by the U.S. Navy to work for his MBA (master of business) degree at the University of Chicago, Booth School of Business. Only a few in the entire Navy are selected each year for such a program. LCDR Hall recently learned that he was “deep selected” for promotion later this year to Commander (CDR), the next level in the Navy’s officer hierarchy. In recognition of this achievement, the Aurora Council Navy League presented him with the silver oak leave uniform shirt collar insignia which he soon will be able to wear proudly.
