You want to see the great city of Aurora thrive and help its children succeed academically. However, many families lack the fundamental resources and literacy tools they need to do so. Therefore, the Aurora Public Library District (APLD) Foundation is asking you to please donate to Library Giving Day April 4 and help us to help the children..

The APLD Foundation is an organization that works tirelessly to provide our community with access to important resources and services. The stated purpose is to “innovate literacy solutions so that all people may discover, create, connect and succeed,” which aligns with the Library’s Vision Statement.

Their most recent fundraising contributions were instrumental in acquiring our new Bookmobile, which is in production in North Carolina. The Foundation supports the Library’s literacy programs, Summer reading initiatives, and other educational programs that benefit children, teens, and adults. APLD Foundation director Nicole Benzinger has seen the positive impact of having access to a Library in her home. “My children became curious about the world around them because of the books they were able to check out from the Library,” she said. “After all of the books and knowledge my kids were given by the Library, I wanted to give back, that’s why I joined the APLD Foundation Board. The Library plays such an important role in the community, and I hope to help further that role by fundraising on behalf of the Library.” Library Giving Day provides a unique opportunity to support efforts by donating funds to continue its mission.

Donating to the APLD Foundation is an investment in our community’s future. Vulnerable children need our help now more than ever! Projections estimate that school reading levels will decrease 32% because of the pandemic. Your donation will ensure that the Library can continue to provide early literacy kits to at-risk families for years to come. Simply donating $5 a month provides a child with a book. Not only will your donation have a positive impact on the community, but it can be incredibly fulfilling. You can feel good knowing that your contribution is helping to make a difference in the lives of those around you.

Aurora is part of a coalition of libraries joining forces to raise funds through a Library Giving Day campaign. Library Giving Day serves to remind us that libraries are a cornerstone for our communities. In addition to well-loved books, libraries offer innovative programs that promote lifelong learning, connect patrons to technology, and advance knowledge. This fundraising event will occur April 4, and we encourage customers and library lovers to make a gift in support of your library any time through the end of National Library week, April 28.

Donating to the APLD Foundation on Library Giving Day is a wonderful way to support our community and ensure that the Library can continue to provide invaluable resources for the entire community. Your donation, no matter how big or small, can make a difference.
