The Aurora Greenfest is ready to give you and your family a fun-filled day, full of ways to take better care of yourselves and the planet. Our vendors will teach you everything about recycling, installing solar panels on your house, and saving money and energy in your home. The Fox Valley Electrical Auto Association is coming to our Green Car Show to help you learn more about owning and driving an electric car—another great way to save money as gas prices keep going up. Would you like to save money and eat healthy, homegrown food from your own backyard? The Fox Valley Garden Club will be there to help you get started. The Greenfest is free and accessible to all, so bring the whole family.
We’re kicking off with a Zumba class led by Karla and Nancy from Twins Fitness to get our hearts pumping! For some real old-fashioned fun, the 40 Plus Double Dutch team will put on a show and teach us how to jump rope.
Let’s connect with nature. Beautiful, interesting animals teach us why we need to take care of them and our planet. “Wings and Talons” is coming back, with their exciting rescued hawks and eagles. The Illinois Herpetological Society is returning, with their amazing snakes, lizards, and turtles. The Phillip’s Park Zoo will be bringing some of their exhibits, too.
Enter a chance to go home with a 55-gallon rain barrel! This year’s Aurora GreenFest will feature a series of captivating public art exhibitions, showcasing functional 55-gallon rain barrels reimagined into vibrant masterpieces by talented local artists. To turn inspiration into action, these unique works of art will be given away to residents, providing a colorful and sustainable way for the community to conserve water in their own backyards. You can order your own rain barrel or composter by April 26 through the City of Aurora’s Rain Barrel Program in collaboration with The Conservation Foundation and UpCycle Products.
Our community marketplace is full of everything you need to make you and your home more beautiful, healthier, and energy efficient. Local environmental groups will be there to share fun, educational activities for kids and grown-ups. We will have a bouncy house, face painting, music, and food trucks to make the Greenfest into a real festival, celebrating everything in this beautiful world of ours.
Please remember that the Greenfest will be at a new location this year, 18 W. Benton Street, in the historic U.S.Post Office/SciTech Museum building. There is limited parking to the east of the building; we recommend parking in the lot at the Santori Aurora Public Library, using street parking, or parking in the Stolp St. parking garage.
We still have room for a few more vendors, and we need plenty of volunteers to make the day a real success. For more information, please go to www.
auroragreenfest.com and click on “get involved” to sign up. If you have an electric car you would like to show, please sign up as a presenter on our website.
“Thank you, Aurora, for supporting the Greenfest since 2010. We want to keep our community sustainable and resilient,” said Mavis Bates, festival founder and chair. “We love bringing our community together to celebrate sustainability.”
Aurora GreenLights, an affiliate of The Conservation Foundation, and in partnership with the City of Aurora and Mayor’s Sustainable Aurora Advisory Board, organizes the festival.
