Dear editor;

Over the past couple weeks, our current commander-in-chief, Donald Trump, has provided multiple demonstrations of his unworthiness to hold that title. And furthermore, regardless of one’s political views, Trump’s words and behavior in those instances lend credence to the view that he is a pathetically deranged specimen of the human race.

During the solemn ceremony honoring six dead soldiers whose bodies were returning home to American soil from Trump’s war with Iran, there was Donald Trump saluting proudly, with his MAGA cap securely in place. Six soldiers having made the ultimate sacrifice, and our president who wouldn’t make the small sacrifice of chancing his sparse hair to be windblown. How pathetic is that?

Only a week ago, during a press conference before a scheduled lunch with Kennedy Center board members, Trump goaded house speaker, Mike Johnson, into publicly describing a very personal life and death health issue affecting a representative from Florida. Trump proudly announced that he, himself, had intervened in securing the best medical care for this person, because he needed the man’s vote! Trump has been rarely seen with a genuine smile on his face, but with his successful prodding of Johnson’s inappropriate telling of the story, he appeared absolutely giddy with child-like delight. Deranged indeed.

Most recently with the passing of former FBI director, Robert Mueller, Trump has again demonstrated his complete lack of moral character when he wrote “Good. I’m glad he’s dead.” In addition to his having served this nation at the request of multiple presidents, both Republican and Democratic, Mueller served as a U.S. Marine Corps officer deployed to Vietnam in the late 1960s and was awarded both the Bronze Star and Purple Heart among other recognition of that service. While Mueller was making his sacrifice for this country, Trump was no doubt nursing his bone spurs while partying with his classmates. How pathetically crass is Trump’s jubilation.

How any veteran or current member of our armed forces or their families can continue to support this man is far beyond my ability to comprehend. God help us all.
