Phillip J. Smith is sworn in as chief of police for the Village of Montgomery by deputy Village clerk, Debbie Buchanan Tuesday. Former Police Chief Dan Meyers retired after 33 years. Smith was chief of police in west suburban Berkeley for the past four years. Smith has 27 years of experience in law enforcement including a 23-year career with the Kendall County Sheriff’s Office.
