Dear editor;
Who Do You Trust? That was the name of a television game show back in the early 1960s. Johnny Carson, prior to his fame on the Tonight Show, was the host. It was on around 4 o’clock in the afternoon, after school was out. I watched it and I think of it often because many nowadays say they don’t know who to believe, especially when it comes to politicians.
I believe that who you can believe is who you can trust and who you trust has more to do with a person’s actions than it does with their words. So, if you are believing a politician’s words or get caught up in the emotion of them and they don’t follow up their words with matching actions, then I say they can not be trusted, therefore not believed.
In my opinion, Donald Trump is an unrepentant liar, always has been even before running for president. So as a liar, his words are meaningless because he will change his words to appeal to whatever audience he is speaking to at the time, usually his base, to America, and the world, and even to his wife if it suits his personal, egotistical, agenda. He’s untrustworthy. If I can’t trust him, I can’t believe him. It’s that simple to me.
If you think of a politician as a salesman, you can see how easily one can be persuaded by a liar. It’s not until the goods they promised are either in your hands or never received before one may realize having been duped. If you voted in a liar, as in the case of our president, it takes a lot to undo the harm he incurs, especially when his elected party supports his actions because it allows them to further their agenda for the sake of their party, not the needs and wants of our country.
So, here we are. He’s giving us an unprotected environment, insecurity of our financial needs, permission to beat your wife, untethered access to Russia to again infiltrate our elections, and boasting who has the biggest nuclear button to another fanatic in North Korea.
You have the power to change this with your vote. Remember, you don’t get a mulligan, do-over, such as three religious leaders have given to Trump concerning his moral appetites. Please examine your morals and find the courage to vote for the truth, not a liar.
P.S.: Never trust a liar, and never lie to someone who trusts you!
