By Joan Solms –
I stood close to the action, during the Aurora Pride Parade Sunday, to be sure I saw Aurora mayor Richard Irvin, and he saw me. I told him I would attend. My son and I wore our Choose Life T-shirts.
The mayor had announced he was representing the Aurora City Council. The mayor’s delight was shown by his dancing and singing, hugging, and kissing gestures. The largest contingency, the “Paramount Proud” (Theatre), led off the parade.
Most of the entries were these small cult groups bearing the LGBT trademarks. There was only one bank marching, and no Catholic support. The churches marching were mostly small groups including Lutheran, Methodist, Unitarian, and Unity.
All the Democratic Party officials had representatives, except congressman Bill Foster who was prominently marching in the parade. Campaigner Alex Arroyo was there. Hain for Sheriff had a group as did J.B. Pritzker for governor.
Here is a problem: Group signs that read organizations supporting the parade. Did they have the right to do so? Examples: Aurora downtown businesses. Any proof? Groups that attached the city name or department to their name. Did they have the right to do that? If so, how about Fox Valley Park District Pro-Life Team?
Hines Veterans Hospital; Fox Valley Park District Pride Team. Was this voted on by FVPD Council?
AGPA Police Dept: I questioned some working policemen who were assuring me that they were doing it on their own. They wore uniforms and had motor cycles, too. They must be a loosely gathered group and how many were real policemen?
Big organizations: Paramount Proud; Com Ed; oligarch candidate J.B. Pritzker for governor; Hines Hospital team; Kirkland Fire Department team; Planet Fitness; World Finance; The Hartford Co..
Criticism: The Indivisible Naperville Trump and Pence must go sign.
Thoughts: How many attending were residents? How many are registered voters? How many have jobs? How many pay taxes?
Overheard: One chief saying to a reporter: This is just a pretrial, next year will be better!
Now to find out how much this cost the City of Aurora? No, how much did this cost the taxpayers?

P.S.: There was a group of four young men preaching against the parade with signs.
