Dear editor;
I think it is disrespectful to former Cook County Board chair Dan Ryan (1954 to 1961) to remove his name off of the expressway so it can be renamed for Barack Obama.
There are plenty of roads that can be named for the former president of the U.S.. The Dan Ryan Expressway is an institution in Illinois transportation.
Let’s not rush into changing it. Obviously, Bill Daley has motives not mentioned in his call for the name-change. We don’t need to bring dirty politics into the memory of Mr. Ryan.
