State representative Barbara Hernandez, D-Aurora, is working with State representative Stephanie Kifowit and Mutual Ground, a non-profit organization that supports victims of domestic violence, sexual abuse, and those impacted by substance abuse disorders, to provide necessary cleaning products.

“Assisting members of our community who are suffering is a priority for me, and I am grateful to representatives Kifowit and Mutual Ground for (being partners) with me to provide aid,” Hernandez said. “Whether a person is dealing with the trauma of domestic violence or sexual abuse, or trying to overcome a substance abuse disorder, they deserve a helping hand. Too often, these people slip through the cracks in our systems of support, and that can have dire consequences.”

Hernandez and Kifowit are working with Mutual Ground to provide supplies to people in need. These include:

Laundry detergent; extra large bath towels; toilet paper; glass cleaner; pine-sol.

The donation drive is taking place until April 29 with drop-off times from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Kifowit’s office, and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Hernandez’s office. Both are open from Monday through Thursday.

Hernandez’s office is located at 540 W. Galena Blvd. in Aurora. For more information on the event, her office can be contacted at Repbarbarahernandez@gmail.com or 630-270-1848.

Kifowit’s office is at 1677 Montgomery Road, Suite 116 in Aurora. For more information on the event, her office can be contacted at stephanie.kifowit@att.net or 630-585-1308.

Mutual Ground will accept monetary donations or gift cards and they can be sent directly to www.mutualground.org
