Kathy Balcazar is the new programs and projects coordinator for The Just Food Initiative of the Fox Valley. A longtime communications professional, Balcazar most recently served as media relations coordinator for the nonprofit National Safety Council. Prior to that, she was weekly group editor for Shaw Media’s Kane County Chronicle and Suburban Life Media.
Balcazar is a graduate of Columbia College Chicago and Elgin Community College. She is an outdoors enthusiast who has been growing her own vegetables from seed for the last three years. In addition to her role overseeing programs and projects for The Just Food Initiative, she is coordinating media and philanthropy for the nonprofit organization, which has seen significant growth the last year.
Launched more than a decade ago, The Just Food Initiative is committed to building sustainable and just food systems, as well as restoring quality and equality to the food supply.
