Kiwanis Club of Aurora will honor Denny Wiggins with award May 23

The Kiwanis Club of Aurora will present its annual Service To God and Fellowman Award to Denny Wiggins at a banquet in his honor Wednesday, May 23 at Gaslite Manor in Aurora.
The award honors a community member for exemplary leadership skills, consistent service as a role model, and improving the lives of Aurora area residents, especially children. Wiggins joins a long list of recipients since the award’s inception in 1975.
As Aurora Township supervisor, Wiggins helped to established innumerable programs and services to improve the lives of senior citizens and young people in the Aurora area. Under his leadership and foresight, the Township created a youth commission, youth programs, and youth drop-in center as well as Senior Services Associates. Many of the programs provided to youth and seniors in Aurora Township and beyond were established under Wiggins’ leadership.
Serving as executive director of Joseph Corporation for the past 10 years he worked tirelessly to address affordable housing needs in the Aurora area, empowering individuals, stabilizing families, and revitalizing neighborhoods through a variety of economic and social initiatives. Joseph Corporation has increased homeownership opportunities by offering education and counseling for first-time homebuyers, by providing quality-affordable housing through rehabilitation of distressed properties and developing rental housing.
