Dear editor;
Columnist John W. Whitehead’s reminder of what citizens’ rights are protected by the amendments to the U.S. Constitution in his column September 27, in The Voice was appreciated. It cast light on where these amendments are losing their punch.

Seeing it in print reminds me to be aware of times when my voice might be legitimately raised in protest or praise to my elected representatives, locally and nationally. “The price of freedom is eternal vigilance” was never more true.

I guess that now that I might live to be 100 I have to stay on my political toes.
