I will be host to a Zoom Salute to Labor fundraiser from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 13, to celebrate the role of the labor movement in the future of Kane County. Our panel of superstars includes:

• Bill Foster, congressman, Illinois 11th Congressional District;

• Linda Holmes, Illinois State senator, 42nd District;

• Stephanie Kifowit, Illinois State representative, 84th District;

• Barbara Hernandez, Illinois State representative, 83rd District;

• Bill Habel, president, North Central Illinois Labor Council;

• Brian Dahl, president, Fox Valley Building and Construction Trades Council;

• Mark Guethle, director of government affairs, Painters District Council No. 30.

These experts each will each share a vision in a “State of the Unions” round table discussion. To join this zoom event please go to www.mavisbatesforkane.org, make a donation, and we will send you the zoom link. This fundraiser is for my campaign as candidate for Kane County Board District 4. I am running because I believe County government can do much more to help us all live healthier and safer lives. I will be a strong voice on the Board to improve the quality of life for everyone, help our economy to build back better after the COVID-19 crisis, keep our taxes as low as possible while providing vital county services, and maintain the health of our people and the environment.

I am a health-care professional and I will be a fierce advocate for the Kane County Health Department. I applaud their work during this pandemic. Everyone in Kane County must have needed resources to live a happy, healthy, life. I am the daughter of a colonel in the United States Army, and I know the importance of making sure that our veterans receive the care they deserve for their years of service to our Country.

My background as an environmental activist will help us save money through sustainability, and promote renewable energy, conserving energy and water, and helping with recycling. Even in the middle of a pandemic, we need to make the world a better place for us all to live and raise our families.

As a small business owner, I always will be an advocate for other business owners. We are the backbone of our economy.

I have deep roots in Aurora. I have lived here for more than 40 years and raised my two daughters here. I am honored to be an elected official, as the at-large commissioner of the Fox Valley Park District.

Early voting will start September 24 and the election will be November 3. Please vote for me for Kane County Board District 4.
