Hesed House Harbor program presentation: Rotary Club of Aurora umbrella gifts are in the hands of Neil McMenamin, left, and Dave Richert, right, after their presentation at the Rotary Club of Aurora Monday. They explained how Hesed House has worked with health care providers, and Aurora Police and Fire Departments to support the homeless in the Aurora area. They presented information on the recently-formed Harbor program at Hesed House, the second largest homeless shelter in Illinois. The Harbor is a 24-hour program with 16 independent units on-site serving chronically homeless individuals with various disabling conditions. Program participants in the Harbor have access to case management services, and medical and legal assistance, in addition to other life-sustaining services. They spoke about mental illness many homeless individuals struggle with and the many programs Hesed House provides. Last year, 343 Hesed House residents found an outside home.
